Why the Antarctic seas more productive than most tropical seas?
Why more productive Antarctic seas most tropical seas, although they are cooler and receive a lower intensity of light. Explain.
The simple answer is that the waters are colder polar and therefore contain more dissolved oxygen (the solubility of a gas in a liquid increases with decreasing temperature). By So there is more oxygen in the Antarctic Ocean, which means a higher density of plankton, krill density increased, and so on down the food chain.
