I need a really good sweet wine?
I am looking for wines that are sweeter than dry. I'm trying to develop my taste for wine and wine have been found dry to be a little hard for me, but sparkling wines with lower alcohol drink seem too close! I want a wine that pack more of a punch but still have a gentle sweetness about it. Any suggestions?
How sweet do you want to go? There are many sweet wines, and some are dessert wines. Some are only a softer and they include mostly little white wine. Some sweet dessert wines include Sauternes (which may be dry), Muscat, Eiswein, sweet Riesling (there is also dry), White Merlot (sometimes dry), Sauvignon Blanc (which can also be dry), and probably much I forget. Eiswein is the sweetest. It is made from dried grapes with "noble rot", I think it is a form of botulism, which adds great sweetness of the grape. No sugar is added. Some nice good quality alternatives include non-oaked Chardonnay, Chablis, Gruener Veltliner, Gewurztraminer, Spanish "Albariño" and some "white Zinfandel" that are most popular. kosher wine is red and sweet, also known as "Manischewitz" brand. This is made from Concord grapes, like Welch. You can find some sweet red zinfandels, but most are dry. I think some Italian red wines (non oaked) to be on the cusp of sweetness, as some supertuscans "but maybe that's just my sensitive palate. Your best move is to go to a wine shop and ask for help!
