Why our food season with salt and pepper? Where does it come?
While seasoning my food tonight, I wondered why what the heck do season with salt and pepper? Why these two specific seasonings and the idea was first to do this? Is this type of condiments that occur only in the Western world or around the world. All responses would be appreciated.
We began to use salt to preserve meat. It is the only rock that humans consume. It is necessary for normal body functioning. Some people crave is due to electrolyte imbalances. The ancient Egyptians used it in 6000 and before Christ. Pepper is the same time period. No one knows precisely why he started using it, but it is the lack of other resources belief at the time. They knew it was poisonous or not until I tried it. I guess once they realized it was safe and had good flavor, they stuck with him.
