Old Enamel
Can an Old Enamel bath be cut in two and two are easier removal in a renovation?
If so, what tool should be used (circular saw, saw) and what kind of blade? On the other hand, what I can take a hammer and break it into smaller pieces? Will it break or bend right? My tub is enamel steel.
Yes, depending on the type of tub. If it is a Cast Iron bath, then you can take a sledgehammer to it and break it into pieces. If it is steel, not break into pieces, but it just doubled. If steel, I recommend taking a Sawzall to it. You will need a saw blade for cutting steel type. It may also be able to use a hand grinder with a metal cutting blade. Go to any place like Lowe's or The Home Depot and you can display. Lowe's should be able to rent a tool to cut the tub in the middle of a couple of dollars. He might also show exactly which tool they need. Just make sure when you are breaking or cutting it until you wear protective glasses and probably not a bad idea to use an old long sleeve shirt or jacket for the hot metal parts out of the cutting blade does not burn a little. If this is an old cast iron claw foot bath, then I'd recommend checking to see if there's somewhere around your area to buy or collect antique bathtubs, appliances lighting, handrails, etc. restoration projects in the house. You may pay an amount of decrease in an old claw foot cast iron bath. And as one of the persons mentioned, if you're cutting, it is probably a good idea to wear a dust mask as well.
