Catcher in the Rye – red hunting hat?
What is the red hunting hat symbolize Allie's glove in The Catcher in the Rye? More specifically .. Why is a "chase" of the CAP – is symbolically hunting something? And .. the gauntlet .. I understand how to display still see Holden his brother and his innocence .. but what does it symbolize?
Red hunting hat: red hunting hat is one of the most recognizable symbols of the literature American twentieth century. It is inseparable from our image of Holden, with good reason: it is a symbol of his uniqueness and individuality. The hat is strange, and it shows that Holden desires to be different from everyone around him. At the same time, he is very self-conscious about the hat-which is always mentioned when they are using, and often does not wear if he's going to be with people he knows. The presence of the hat, therefore, reflects the central conflict in the book: Holden's need for isolation against his need for companionship. Note that the color of the hat, red is the same as Allie and Phoebe's hair. Perhaps Holden associates with the innocence and purity he believes these figures represent and what used as a way to connect. He never explicitly comments on the importance of the hat apart from mentioning his unusual appearance. Glove: Allie lefty glove Baseball is a symbol of his unique personality and love of his brother Holden. The only part of the glove is that Allie wrote poems everywhere, with green ink. He did so he would have something to read when I was at the baseball field and the game was boring. Holden keeps his glove with him and has at Pencey. It is, of course, wrong to think that the Stradlater rude, Holden's roommate, could understand or appreciate the essay that Holden writes about the glove. Stradlater want something descriptive to deliver his English teacher and is too vague and awkward to do the job himself. He asks Holden to write it. Telling someone like Stradlater on the glove is sacrilege. Allie is a brother of Holden. In the chaotic cosmos of Holden, is an angelic presence, a connection to death, but also hope. Rojas "hunting" hat: What is for? See page 38. Holden sees himself as the catcher in the rye when using this hat, he tries to articulate this when Ackley says, "I shoot people in this hat."
